Why do my cucumber plants not have any flowers?

If they never bloomed, you need more fertilizer. If they bloom and drop the flowers, it is either the heat or you do not have enough calcium in the soil. Crush your egg shells and place them around the cucumber roots. Water enough to keep them going through the hottest part of the summer. Remember that even if you do get cukes this time of the year, they will most likely be bitter. They will be much better in September after the heat wave has passed, provided they survive the drought.

I am in California, and our heatwave seems to have passed after a period of misery. My cucumbers are finally blooming and setting little baby cukes, so hopefully yours will, too. Are your plants looking healthy and green? If so, just keep watering and feeding them, and if the weather permits, there's still plenty of time for cucumbers to grow.

(The far less likely cause of no cucumber flowers is too much fertilizer and water. If you have gigantic vines and healthy green leaves but no flowers, that would indicate too much nitrogen in the soil. Then the plants grow huge but they don't blossom.) But this summer, my money would be on the heat as the cause of the problem.
Reply:The heat spell we are all going through.
