Is it best to plant flowers from seeds or blooms?

do flowers grow best when they are planted from seeds or when you plant actual flowers that you buy at a nursery? also which types of plants grow best in hot, humid climates such as Houston, Texas?
Say
FlowersBirthday FlowersSympathy FlowersIt depends on the flower. You can plant any time if you use plants but have to plant early with seeds. It's hot and humid where I am too. Cleomes, sunflowers, zinnias, balsum, marigolds, poppies, hollyhocks grow well here and are all easy to grow from seed.
Reply:I found out for myself that I do better if I by from the nursery rather then start from seeds .
Reply:seeds take too long...

nursery plants are the easiest...
Reply:Seeds.
Reply:planting from plants are the source of immediate gratification. planting from seeds allows the cultivator to observe the miracle of growth from its primal stages. Houston is indeed hot and humid with lots of big trees creating shade for most gardens. So first it is important to determine how much sunlight you are getting and which part of the day you are getting direct sun. For shade, try impatiens, coleus, hypoestes, hostas, columbine, cosmos. For sun areas try planting petunias, periwinkle, cosmos, lantanas, verbena, purslane, portulaca. If planting bedding plants, space them 8-9 inches apart for maximum development. Fertilize with BR 61 appx. every 3 weeks.
Reply:I think it is best to plant flowers from blooms. Why, because they are already started to grow. Seeds are ok, but the blooms grow faster than the seeds. And also, blooms can be easily monitored.
Reply:It depends. I know which plant nurseries' plants do best in my garden, and which seed packs are just doomed and never seem to grow. Living in humid climate is not easy, I've had to get some seeds from far away.
Reply:Growing from seed takes longer. That's why nurseries offer the plants already grown, so you don't have to wait very long for them to flower. But seeds are cheaper and you will get alot more plants if you grow them your own. Time and money are the reasons people pick either one.

There are sooooo many plants that can grow Houston. You need to go to your local nursery and ask someone to help you pick out plants.fitness
