I%26#039;m in Salt Lake. We have very similar climates. I would recommend Boxwood, Yew, Kinnickinnk, Hosta, Campanula (Blue Clip and White Clip can be grown in sun or shade), Bleeding Hearts, Heuchera (Coral Bells) if the area gets a couple of hours of sun, Carex, Wooly Thyme, Ajuga, Creeping Jenny, Lamium, Euonymus (might be a little marginal in Denver). Anyway, that%26#039;s a handful. Here%26#039;s a great website for shade plants.
