Do you water new outdoors plants and flowers in the morning and at night?

I always water them in the evening - if it is going to be a hot sunny day and you water them in the morning you risk burning the plant as the water acts like a heater on the plant and can scorch it.

However advice says:

Water in the cool of the morning or evening when the wind is calm, the sun is less hot, and water loss through evaporation is minimal.

Avoid watering disease-susceptible plants at night. If water sits on plant foliage for hours, it can encourage fungal diseases to attack leaves, buds, flowers, and fruit. Plants susceptible to leaf spots, fruit rots, and flower blights are best watered in the morning, when the warming sun will quickly dry off the leaves and discourage fungus development.
Say
FlowersBirthday FlowersSympathy FlowersI water in the evening otherwise during the heat the sun is just taking all the water best btw 8.00-9.00pm that%26#039;s when ground is cooling down
Reply:I always water mine in the evening. Less evaporation. Besides it is cooler then, and I stay out of the sun as much as I can. I water every other day. This does very well here in the mid-west. Green thumbs up to you!
Reply:I don%26#039;t. The first thing I do is soak the pots good in a bucket of water before I plant them. That waters them much better than just watering them with a garden hose or watering can. Then after that I only water them once every couple of days or so depending on how they look. If I see them wilting then I water them right away. If they look good and healthy, I%26#039;ll wait a day or so and see. How often you should water them depends partly on the weather you have. I don%26#039;t ever water mine more than once a day. If you water too much, you can cause root rot which will do more damage than good.

Watering in the morning is normally the best. But I water in the evening because that is when I normally have time to. Don%26#039;t water in the middle of the day.

If the plants are in containers. They will need watered everyday pretty much.
Reply:Suzz, are these planted in the ground, or in containers? Is it hot and sunny where you are? Generally, it is better to water in the morning so that water droplets on the leaves have a chance to evaporate, and lessens the chance of disease. I water containers once per day **if they need it**, and plants in the ground a little less often because they tend not to dry out as fast.loan
