I am using this on my own patio right now! I love it! You can cut it to go into any planter and they grow really fast! The great thing is, you can cut into any shape, so if you want zig-zags, you can do that, you can do circles, you can do one shape inside another one...just cut it and grow it! I actually cut out the letters of my baby's name and planted it...now I've got his name in flowers!! :) I 200% recommend this product!!

I suggest that you get a long planter box, cut out some little letters and fit them into the box and watch your message grow!! :) you can do just about anything you want with this! Also, since you have an apartment, this would easily fulfill inside and outside for you! Put some in planters and put them around on the ground around your patio (if you have one), and surround up to the edge (outside of the planter) with stones and take some rubber tubing and an electric water pump, and poke it between the stones and up through a hole in the planter (where it can be hidden) and you'll have yourself an automatic waterer! Or, you can just arrange the stones and the tubing/pump around the planter without putting it into the flowers, and have yourself a little garden fountain! how sweet would that be for your neighbors to envy?! :)

Hope this helped!

Good Luck!!
Reply:Wow, great best answer! Thanks from me too! I have to try that! Report It

Reply:THE LILLIPUT ZINNIAS AND SMALL, BUSHY MARIGOLDS WILL GIVE YOU COLOR MOST OF THEY GROWING SEASON AND THEY ARE EASILY GROWN. MIX IN A FEW POTS OF HERBS - BASIL, OREGANO, CHIVES, ETC. - THEY GROW WELL ALSO AND ARE DELICIOUS IN A VARIETY OF FOODS. AN ASPARAGUS FERN CAN BE GROWN IN A POT OUTSIDE AND THEN INSIDE FOR THE WINTER. IT WILL DROP IT NEEDLES IN WINTER AND COULD APPEAR DEAD. HOWEVER, IN THE SPRING, WHEN YOU BRING IT OUT, GIVE IT A "HAIRCUT" STRAIGHT ACROSS THE TOP LEAVING ABOUT 2-3 INCHES OF PLANT. GIVE IT PLANT FOOD AND WATER, AND IT WILL GROW, GROWN, GROW!
Reply:I agree use containers, allysum (sp) and marigolds are very easy to plant from seed and grow pretty fast. Just be sure you thin them out so plants are not crowded. You might want to try some ornamental veges too. I think hot pepper plants and eggplant are very pretty. If you want something tall plant some morning glories in a pot with a wooden tee pee type trellis ( easy to make) . Also use the new kind of potting soil with the fertilizer already mixed into it. Little tip....I put 1/2 of a baby diaper in the bottom of my pots under the dirt ..it helps retain water.
Reply:All good suggestions here, it's fun to grow from seed. Another idea is to grow tomatoes in pots, they will need to be started ASAP indoors in those seed trays that someone mentioned, and then transplanted into large pots for a sunny spot outdoors when the weather gets warm enough. They will need enough room in their pots so they don't get crowded, and the pre-fertilized potting soil is a good idea. You will probably have way too many seedlings, see if your neighbors, family, or co-workers want some. Later in the season when they get tall, they will probably need to be staked and tied up. But you will be surprised at how many tomatoes you'll get! I have done this before and it works pretty well.

Good luck and have fun!
Reply:You should probably start your seeds inside in a area that gets alot of sun. Then when ready, transplant them into a variety of different sized pots. No digging and you have beautiful flowers to enjoy. Varying the heighth you display them can turn your outside into your own little private flower garden. Maybe even get a small water fall of some kind. Good luck.
Reply:Plant in containers. You can use seeds in them, just thin them out if you get too many growing in one container. There are tons of containers available in nurseries and stores these days.
Reply:I know exactly how you feel. I am renting a house after loosing ours and the landlord had nothing in the property he said it was ok for me to put my plants. I dug em out and took em with me. I even took my trees not big they are still small. What you should do if you want to start something from seed. Go to Walmart, gardening department. Look for anuals, those last only in the summer die after and you can plant more next year. Get one of those 32 planters with 32 square holes and you can plant 32 seeds. The nicest to grow are impatients. They can be hung in hanging pots which you can also get later at Home depot or Walmart but those is best to get at Home Depot. Good luck. You don't have to plant in the grownd you can put them is pots and anything you buy indoors should be left indoors like house plants. I descovered houseplants this last winter. I love them. Good luck.loan
